8/17 - 8/21

This week in World History students will be going over class procedures, reviewing history and geography skills, and will begin their study of the Roman Empire. The first unit is called "The Rise and Fall of Rome".

Monday and Tuesday students took a quick review quiz on class rules and procedures, learned how historians gather information through primary and secondary sources, and went over some basic map and geography terms.

Wednesday and Thursday students will present their own primary artifact that explains something about them, and will get to "think like an archaeologist" during a classroom gallery walk. They will also begin pre-reading chapter one of their class texts and will learn how to create their INB cover pages.

On Friday and Monday, all students will be working on vocabulary from the unit and will learn about the story of Pompeii and what it can tell us about the Roman lifestyle.

Homework for Monday and Tuesday - bring in a primary artifact that explains something about you as a person ( be sure that it is appropriate for school and that you have your parents permission if it has sentimental/monetary value).

Homework for Wednesday and Thursday - complete student autobiography, return welcome letter tear off, and finish INB Cover page.
